As is usually the case it’s been a year of ups and downs. Personally it’s been a tricky one, my beloved grandad died at the end of 2023 so it’s been a year of coming to terms with that. We lost two members of my partners family this year, grief really has taken a toll. My partner also needed an emergency appendectomy in the summer which was a worrying few days. I started a part time job which has made life a little easier financially but harder time-wise (never enough hours in the day).
On some more positive notes, this year I’ve been able to spend more time on myself. London gallery days with my friend Sarah are becoming more of a regular thing and I took a two night trip to see my Dad in Cornwall - my first proper time away from the children. I exhibited at Talos Art Gallery over the summer, selling four original drawings and had a wonderful time organising an exhibition at The Merchant’s House in Marlborough with my friend Patrick - we both sold work too. I enjoyed doing a double tree portrait commission and I also took part in a December Open Studios event which despite Storm Darragh likely putting a few people off venturing out turned out to be very successful for me as I sold three drawings. Plus two lovely trips to Wales and the Forest of Dean and a lot of quality family days out.
As ever, this year has mostly been about being a mum to my two little loves. Trying to keep on top of all the household chores while being a full time mum (with a part time job) and an art career isn’t easy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m hoping that in 2025 I have more time to spend drawing and even more adventures with my little family.
Thank you for reading if you got this far. Wishing you a Happy New Year. ✨
